Since I was not immediately rich after publishing my thought provoking first blog, I was forced to go back to Pinterest and Twitter to see where I may have gone wrong. After reading many, many blogs (maybe 3) … after reading what seemed like 100 blogs, I think I am supposed to have something “valuable” to offer society as whole. I have an entire notepad of things I would like to share. Those things will not be shared on a weeknight. You must wait for the “magic” of a weekend. However, that does not mean I have nothing to offer on a perfectly ordinary weekday. Remember, I have 3 teenagers and am old and therefore, wise.
I read if your blog is going to be “interesting” or “worth reading”, you need pictures. Just asks Yoast, the judgmental bastards. My teenagers have similar traits to mine. Which to me means they are hilarious but also sometimes hard to deal with because they are all convinced they are right about everything. All the time. Everything. All. The. Time. This is obviously ridiculous because I am always right. Just ask my mom and sister, or husband. Although he is less willing to admit the truth. Wait, I got off track… where were we?
Oh yeah, so my mid-week informational blog, I know it’s Tuesday… shut up, no one likes a perky, know- it -all… Anyway, my midweek, practically weekend blog is how to survive most evenings containing your teenagers, or younger versions of yourself… Let’s just see what we have in our “coping with life” arsenal…
After what seems like a 4 hour drive home ( its 45 minutes), stopping for gas, and the grocery store (maybe the liquor store) (because you have to plan your liquor store stops because half of your state thinks prohibition is still a thing and you live in a f$#%^g dry county) , you walk in and give your sweet puppers a treat. As you walk through the house, you start shedding pants, earrings, shoes, necklace , bra and anything else that may have annoyed you during the day. Once my favorite clothes of jogging pants and old raggedy t-shirt has been donned, I can begin my evening. I have a few necessities to make it through…
I would suggest starting with a relaxing “tea”. I drink my “tea “out of my favorite glass. It tastes the best out of the special glass. This is my favorite glass because the musical “Hamilton” is AMAZING. Seriously. Just listen to it. Just. Do. It. My children and I actually agree on this sentiment… this never happens…ever.

If t”tea” is not your bag, try some other beverage. If you have teenagers, you need some sort of tea. Trust me on this one.
Anyway, the next thing that makes me happy on evenings during the week is my need, please understand… NEED to laugh. I do not generally watch dramas or suspense because life in general provides enough of both. Stand up comics are my absolute favorite. Not a favorite of my husband. However, my kids, all of them, can almost quote John Mulaney specials to each other. It is the small things that make you proud as a mother. You feel as if you have accomplished your mission as a parent. So this part of the evening is watching TV shows you have seen a billion times.

On days in which I have extra energy, I try to be productive. At least this is my goal. However, my definition of “productive” is pretty loose. If we eat dinner, I have been productive. If it did not come out of a box, I’m kind of expecting applause. I mentioned in some of the pages that I like to sew and quilt and take pictures. So when I am in the middle of a quilt or another project, I will sew during the week. Now may be a good time to mention I am in love with my sewing machine. In the case of a fire, after my children, husband, and animals, I am going in after my sewing machine. It sleeps in the room with us. Don’t judge. By the way, if you notice the dust and comment on it either in your head, or on the blog, we cannot be friends. But I may never meet you, so come back 🙂

So if I don’t have time to sew and want quick, creative satisfaction, I will take pictures. I have to make appointment with my children to take their pictures. Submit my request in writing and allow 6-8 weeks for a response. I usually have to make some empty promise of goods of some sort, and hope the one day we can all agree on is neither storming nor hot as satan’s armpit outside. Any adverse condition at all, will terminate the above agreement. Also, perfect atmospheric conditions does not guarantee sibling harmony. You get what you get. Occasionally, more relaxing “tea” is needed.

Most of the time, I have not adequate correlated an easy workday with my children’s attitudes and my daughters’ “overly unreasonable” time, so alternatives must be available. I have to go to the animals. The puppers is a bit spastic and hard to capture with ease. The cat, the fat cat, is generally easy to find and photograph. When I need a quick, easy creative fix, the cat is the go to project. He moves just enough that you feel like you have captured maimed wildlife. Such a rewarding feeling…

Toward the end of the evening, and close to bed, there is one essential piece of equipment… for my husband. He needs these. He is not as easily soothed to sleep by the playing of a saxophone, a trombone, and a baritone, all playing different songs, as I am. My son plays a myriad of instruments so we never know if we will be lulled to sleep by a baritone, a ukulele, a keyboard, a trombone, a bass guitar, or whatever instrument he can drag into the house. The voices in my head are generally louder than their combined instruments anyway.

In summary, to survive weeknights that contain teenagers, have a drink, laugh, do something you love, and do what you must to get by. You have one go around. Live, Love, Laugh. I’m sure that is on something in every craft fair from here to a place where they don’t have craft fairs.

😂 I like how Tiny looks like he had a glamour shot.
You crack me up! I want some of your “tea”. I haven’t had “tea” in what seems like FOREVER.
Love this! Can’t wait to read more 😂
